Last week, Hub and I went on a whistle-stop tour of some of the Hebridean Islands, and then travelled back across to the North East coast of the Scottish mainland.

We took in some of the most glorious sights, which I will be sharing with you over the course of my next few posts.

We had mixed weather through the week.  At the beginning, as you will see, it was very rainy and grey.  This made the spectacular countryside all the more dramatic, particularly through the wonderful Glencoe.

Here is a short video taken from the car to show you what I mean.  You cannot truly get the sense of majesty from this, but I hope it gives you at least an idea of this stunning part of the Highlands.  The view of the white farmhouse at the end certainly gives a sense of scale…

Another highlight of the journey from Edinburgh to the Isle of Skye is Eilean Donan Castle.  This is a beautiful spot – a magical setting for this lovely 13th Century Scottish Castle.

And finally, for this post, here is a picture of the bridge from the mainland to Skye.  It is always a great feeling to reach this point after some 5 hours of travelling (including a couple of short stops).  And an even better feeling to travel over it on to the island.

More tomorrow… 😀
