On The Needles

One of the many nice things about completing a knitting project is that you can start something new.  While I was knitting my Leventry shawl, I had plenty of time to think about what would be next.  And as you may have seen from previous posts about my yarn stash (here and here), I certainly had oodles of choice!

Not being one for a simple life, I have decided to embark on two projects.  The first was inspired by a post by Kelly on her Knitigating Circumstances blog.  I had not given the Soumak Scarf Wrap much notice when I initially read my copy of Rowan’s Knitting Magazine 54.  But Kelly’s project sent me off for another look and I realised how much fun this would be to knit:

 

I had this boxful of Stylecraft Special DK yarn to do something with:

And had already crocheted these little sample squares:

So I was able to experiment with my own colour pallet.  It took a but of juggling, because I have nine colours and the pattern calls for ten, but it was not too difficult in the end.

I have nearly finished the first pattern round – only seven more to go!!  I am really pleased with the way in which the colours are coming together.

The second project I have started is this:

I love Kieran Foley‘s patterns and plan to make many of his styles.  This Seascape Stole seemed particularly suitable for showcasing my gorgeous royal purple Kidsilk Haze yarn.

As you can see, I have got as far as completing the ribbing.  So it is now on to the lace pattern itself – can’t wait!

It is stimulating to have a choice of projects to turn to, depending on my mood.  In the same way as it is good to have a variety of books on the go, I like not being tied to just one thing.
